Frequently Asked Questions
Will I be in the room during my child's therapy sessions?
For very young children, parents are often involved directly in play sessions or present for the first few minutes. For older kids and teens, individual privacy is important for building trust with their therapist, though we are able to schedule dedicated parent updates to keep you informed and involved.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to book an appointment for my child?
No, you do not need a physician's referral to start therapy at Dawn Therapy. However, we always recommend checking your specific insurance policy, as a small number of providers require a referral note for reimbursement.
How do I know if my child needs therapy or if it’s "just a phase"?
It's normal for children to go through difficult phases. However, if emotional outbursts, anxiety, or sadness start interfering with their school attendance, family life, sleep, or friendships for more than a few weeks, early professional support can prevent smaller struggles from becoming deeply ingrained habits.

We’ll discuss your child’s current challenges, and match you with a clinician who specializes in your child's age group and language preferences.
